The things that matter most

I've thought for several months about starting a blog like this. I've hesitated for many reasons: first, is honestly just laziness; second, lack of time; and third, it's always difficult to share the most personal parts of yourself, especially in something as public as a blog. But, I also feel the importance in sharing with those around me the experiences that have made me who I am. While my other blog focuses on frustrations with life and society, this blog will focus on my most personal and intimate life experiences. I want to share the miracles and blessings that I have had that are often unseen or go unheard.

I want to first establish some basic beliefs to provide context to my entries. First, I believe in a loving Heavenly Father who listens and answers prayers. Second, I believe that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to show us how to live a perfect life and who eventually sacrificed His own life to redeem us from our sins and from the bonds of death. Because of His sacrifice we can be forgiven for all of our sins and will one day be raised again from the grave. Third, I believe that God has blessed us with the Holy Ghost to confirm truth and to direct us in life. Manifestations of the Holy Ghost come in the form of feelings of peace when truth is spoken, a burning sensation in the chest, distinct impressions, and clear ideas that come to mind. Fourth, I believe in the prophets of the scriptures as well as Prophets and Apostles that God has called in this day to provide a continual line of revelation. My entries will revolve around those four beliefs.

The title of this blog was inspired by the scripture found in D&C 64:33 that reads "...out of small things proceedeth that which is great." It is my experience that some of life's seemingly "small" moments or experiences that may seem insignificant, in the end will be the things that matter most.
